Fitness – Where do I begin??

The short answer is, I have no idea, but maybe I can offer a few helpful tidbits of advice.  It seems that anytime anyone begins something new, there is a bit of trepidation and uneasiness just because you are starting something new.  I may not know you in real life so there is no way I can know what you have been through and are currently going through that shapes you and makes you who you are. I can tell you this though, we all have junk to deal with in our lives.  There will never EVER be the perfect time to start a fitness journey.  When I say journey, that’s what it is.  Forget the gidget gadget crap you see on the TV infomercials.  Here is the bad news.  There is nothing out there that you can do that will give you the ripped body you want by working out 5 minutes a day.  Tony Horton says, and I’m paraphrasing here, if you only work out 3 times a week for 15 to 20 minutes a day, you might as well throw yourself down a flight of stairs. You are going to be just as sore and you are going to have the same results.  I thought it was pretty funny.  The truth is, if you want to have REAL results, you are going to have to be COMMITTED to your FITNESS JOURNEY!!  I know you are thinking, I don’t know if I can be committed.  Again, I don’t know where you are, or what you are going through, or where you want to be in 2 to 3 years.  I don’t know what you want your goals to be, but, “The journey of a Thousand Miles begins with a Single Step.”  So, you have to begin.

So, where do you begin?  With the single step.  You don’t have to change all of your nutrition habits at one time.  You don’t have to change your entire routine all at once.  You can decide to just get outside and walk.  Or, if you want, you can choose from one of our fantastic products like Slim in 6, Turbo Jam, Hip Hop Abs and that way, you can workout at home and get in a GREAT workout.  You can replace one of your meals with Shakeology and at least then your nutrition can start coming back into line and your body will get what it needs.  The main thing, as I said, is to get started.   My Mama used to say…”Do something!..even if it’s WRONG!!”  So…do SOMETHING!!  I can help you get started if you want.  Just message me.  I’d love to help you and be your free coach to help you be all you can be.

I mean, check this out, these are the definitions of Resolution and Commitment from Websters.

Resolution – the act of determining

Commitment – the state or an instance of being obligated or emotionally impelled <a commitment to a cause>

Also, Statistic Brain says Weight Loss issues are the Number 1 Resolution.  We all knew that.  But, it goes on to say that money is also high so, 38% of people want to lose weight and 34% of people want to make more money, of people who make resolutions.  But, to me, I don’t know about you, a resolution is more of a wish.  It’s some sort of cloud out there that would be great if it happened.  I really wish I could lose weight.   I really wish I could make more money.  But, there is no emotional connection.  People just make resolutions because that’s what they think they are supposed to do.  And yes, it would be nice if we could make more money and certainly, it would be nice if we could lose weight.  I mean, who doesn’t want to be healthy and wealthy right?

The question then becomes, how do you move it from a wish to a commitment?  How do you take that little wisp of an idea and move it to something that really counts?  How many people this year will be drinking the champagne and kissing their sweethearts and watching the ball drop in New York in Times Square this year and they will resolve to lose weight and make more money?  I would venture to say it is literally MILLIONS of people.  But, what if there were a way that you could get healthy and wealthy by helping other people get healthy and wealthy?  What if you could move that little flicker of a wish into the front part of your brain and make it a commitment?  And then, how do you move it to the center of your brain and make it a burning desire?  When it becomes a white hot flame in the center of your brain, and you fully commit to it, you will succeed.  There is no way you can fail.

Actually, I was one of those millions, for years.  I wanted to lose weight and I wanted to get in shape and I NEEDED to make more money.  I was fat and I was broke and I was 41 years old.  I made New Year Resolution after New Year Resolution.  Why?  Well, that is what you’re supposed to do, right?  BUT….it was a wish  It never was a white hot burning desire.  Then, one day, I looked in the mirror and was not happy with what I saw.  Then, I happened to see a P90X infomercial and like many people, I didn’t order it.  I was afraid it was a scam and I’ve failed at things so many times when I made a Resolution and can you really workout at home?  But, the next weekend, I saw the infomercial again.  This time, I told my wife about it and she said “”You won’t do it.”  Well, that was all I needed to hear.  I ordered it.  I also bought the Recovery Drink, the Meal Replacement Shakes, the Pullup Bar and a set of Bowflex 552 dumbbell weights.   I was committed.  I knew I wouldn’t go to a gym and compete with the muscle guys and it was too far to drive and too much of a time crunch when I was already working 50 to 60 hrs a week at my job.  But I could workout at home and the muscle confusion concept made sense.  So, I committed to 90 days.  I lost about 40 lbs and started getting in the best shape of my life.  After having the success I did, I wanted to naturally share it with everyone.  That is when I decided to be a Coach.  There is absolutely no doubt I can help you achieve success and can help you lose weight and get in shape and can also change your financial situation.  But, you have to be willing to get in there and be committed.  So, are you ready to commit?  Or, will this be another year of a resolution that will never come to pass?  Make 2013 your year.  Let me help you.  We can do it together!!!

I read the following post from a Certified Nutritionist about Shakeology and had to share. To all my friends who are drinking shakeology….you’ll love this and will feel great that you are drinking it ;) To those that are not drinking it, you might want to reconsider ☺ …..Shakeology is NOT a protein shake. New Year Goals

Do you have goals for this year? Remember, you can control your own destiny. If you don’t go where you want to, you will end up where someone else wants you or you will drift into a place you don’t like. So, what are your goals? Do you think you deserve to achieve them? Or, are you just letting life happen to you with no thought of where you are going? As the old sign on the old dirt roads said…. “Be careful of the rut you get into….you will be there for awhile before you can get out.”

I’m trying to get motivated to workout. Yes, I definitely have those days too. I’m going to do Body Beast Bulk Arms. I know I’m going to do it, it’s just a matter of getting up and getting it done. I guess it’s time to get it on. My last workout….ever…since today is going to to be the end of the world. I hate to end it on Bulk Shoulders, but, it is what it is because it’s next in the rotation *sigh*

If I can do this…YOU can do this!! Trust me!!

After not working out for 15+ years, I ordered P90X off of an infomercial. I was afraid to get started because I heard it was tough and it was. But, I also knew what Tony Horton was saying was true. If you want results, you have to get real and get tough. So, I dove in and yes, I was so sore I grunted in my sleep when I turned over at night. But, 30 days into P90X which was the first workout program I’d done since College other than running and messing around with free weights and pretending I knew what I was doing. I didn’t know how I really looked until I saw my before pictures and they were NASTY!! I lost 20 pounds and started feeling GREAT!! Just 30 days in, I could already tell a difference in my energy level and was beginning to see definition come back into my muscles. It was nice to be able to stand in front of a mirror again and smile and know that all the hard work was beginning to pay off. It was about 45 days into the workouts when it really hit me that I don’t HAVE to workout…I GET to workout. That is when I really started actually looking forward to getting up and working out hard. I wish I had done this years ago. I can only begin to imagine where I would be right now.After 2-1/2 rounds of P90X, I had lost 80 lbs and was getting ripped again. I started P90X+ and battles a few injuries and things I did to myself working out and doing other things like softball and mudruns, but it was all worth it.I have done many of the other programs too such as ChaLEAN Extreme, Insanity, Turbo Jam, Slim in 6, Tai Cheng, The Ultimate Reset and now, Body Beast.I haven’t always felt like getting up early and pushing play, but I did it anyway and I am ever so glad I did. I have learned to eat right, and learned that a little bit of discipline will overcome a whole lot of regret. I’ve learned that I can push my body farther than I ever thought possible. I’ve also learned that the programs will give you back what you put into them. If you decide and commit, you will truly succeed. Beachbody has given us the tools, we simply have to use them. I’m so thankful now that I did the research and found out that Beachbody is the real deal. The other interesting thing that Beachbody has given us is the Coaching Opportunity and the ability to help others. It’s an absolutely amazing gift that we’ve been given not only to get in the best shape of our lives, even at 42 (47 now), but also to help others do the same thing. Words just cannot describe how I feel about it!!Update: 10/20/12 – I’m in the middle of my first round of Body Beast. Over the Summer, I did a hybrid of P90X/Insanity after doing the Ultimate Reset and Tai Cheng. It is possible to get in phenominal shape over 40 …pushing 50… and I can help you do it!!I never thought I’d be addicted to working out. This is the most incredible feeling. I’ve been pushing play even when I didn’t feel like it. These programs are incredible. All I can say is, THANK YOU, BEACHBODY!!! I’m in this thing for life and it’s due a lot to the community of people. I can’t imagine ever taking my shirt off again and being ashamed of what’s underneath.I am a Coach with Team Beachbody. My Story

If you get nothing else out of what you read here, it is critical that you realize that you are the average of the 5 people you hang around with the most. Choose the people you hang around wisely and make sure they are good positive influences in your life. Work on self-improvement!! People say “I was born that way” or “I can’t change” or “I don’t deserve success”. All of that is a lie that you see for what it is and then take action in your life to make sure you become the person you want to be. It won’t happen by accident. If you want to make something of yourself and your life, YOU have to be the driving influence in that. Don’t let little bumps in the road derail you. If you fall off the wagon, get up and dust yourself off, and get back on it. If you are overweight and get out of shape, you have to understand that you didn’t get there overnight. You didn’t just wake up one day and get that way. It is going to take time and effort to change your life and if you want it to change, then one of the first things you have to change is your mental attitude and realize that YOU DO DESERVE IT!! It is going to take time and hard work and if you are ready, I’m ready to help you. But, you have to have the desire, passion and hear. The rest is easy. Change the way you think and your body will change to match it.

I grew up on a farm where my Mother cooked 3 meals a day. It was no problem with a fast metabolism working all the time, but I was still a “big boned” “husky” kid. I stayed that way until High School where I lost some weight and got into better shape playing sports. I graduated from The Citadel, a military college and was in pretty good shape when I graduated. I then entered the working world with client lunches and hanging out with friends. I kept putting on weight, and then dieting, and then putting on weight and dieting. I never had time, or frankly, the money to go to a gym. I knew it would be a waste of time and money to do that, but I also didn’t believe in the home exercise fitness programs.

Being 41, and after 18 years of life away from College, 3 kids (11, 9, 6, and one on the way) and a wife who is the love of my life and who cooks great, I put on more weight than I could stand. I was miserable but “I carried it well”. I went through the low carb diets, the no carb diets, the fruit diets, the movie star diets, but, the weight always came back on because I wasn’t complimenting my diet with resistance and cardio training. I would run some occasionally, but never anything too intense and it wouldn’t last long. I was living a “regular” life. I had put on a lot of extra weight, especially around the midsection where the heart and internal organs have to work so hard, causing them extra stress. I had pretty much given up and thought I’d just be this way the rest of my life. I thought I was destined to be an overweight, balding, middle-aged average “Dad” like so many other men out there. That was “normal”, after all. Then, one morning, I happened to stumble across the P90X infomercial. I didn’t order it right away, but thought about it alot. In fact, I couldn’t get it off my mind. I checked it out online, saw it had a money back guarantee, checked out the company, and decided, why not. My loving wife saw it with me and said “You won’t do it”. I figured this might be my last hope. Well, it was, and it’s the only hope I needed. I knew after the first week that this was the real deal. I am jazzed and stoked and can’t imagine what life will be like from here on because this isn’t a fluke or a one time thing, but a lifestyle change for me. Thank you MDB and Beachbody!! We are born-again Christians. As for me and my house…we will serve The Lord. My interests include Coaching Baseball, any outdoor sports, snow skiing, being on the water, etc. I love warm weather. I have my Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from The Citadel – The Military College of South Carolina in Charleston. We have a few rental properties that keep us busy as well.

We have a very busy lifestyle, but we know we are never too busy to help people and Beachbody is our passion. We fully believe that Beachbody is going to change America in more ways than we can possibly imagine at this point. So, come on with us and enjoy the ride!!!
