Music and Life

Music and Life.  Music is all around us.  Start listening and you’ll hear it everywhere.  I’m blessed and cursed with hearing it.  Background music to most people isn’t background music to me.  I even pay attention to music scores in a movie.  They say if you can’t hear the music it’s good because it matches the scene.   I always hear it.  I guess I’m weird that way.  I have been involved in music since I can remember.   It started at Church and at school.  Music has been an incredible part of my life since I can remember.  It’s all around us too.  Maybe this isn’t something you’re interested in reading, but it sure is something I’m interested in writing.  I just love music so, I had to include it in one of my blogs.  So, here ya go!!  Maybe talking about Music and Life and how it has affected me will help you understand me a bit better.

Music and Life – My Life

This isn’t meant to be anything other than putting my thoughts in writing so my friends can know more about me and maybe my kids read this one day and understand a bit more about me.  It may make you think some too, and that’s wonderful.  I started singing before I can remember in our little preschool choir at church.  I took piano lessons from 3rd grade off and on through early High School.  I can’t sit down and play anything on the piano right now, but I still like to play around sometimes and pretend like I can.  My true love happened when I was in the 5th grade.  That is when I found band.  I wasn’t sure what instrument I wanted to play, but I knew I had the opportunity to play something and I went for it.  After looking at several instruments, I settled on either trombone or trumpet.  I wanted to play tunes instead of being a drummer, we didn’t have an option of strings (I was already playing piano) and I didn’t have enough fingers to cover all the holes on a saxophone or a clarinet.  I then, made a decision that would literally change my life in so many good ways.  I decided to play trumpet.  I sat first chair most of my time in band and then, between my Junior and Senior years of High School, I had the opportunity to travel to Europe with the Spirit of America and play in many European Countries over a 6 week period that summer.  I competed in many solo competitions and made Region and State Concert Bands in South Carolina.  I loved marching competitions.  I also loved marching at halftime of the football games.   People asked me why I didn’t play football because I’m 6’3″ and have a big frame.  I played through my 10th grade year but I had to make a decision and frankly, I loved band more than football.  I played in College and sat first chair most of the time there and always played 1st trumpet parts.  I was also in the Pep Band for Basketball games and I played in the Bulldog Orchestra.  We played for special events and actually got paid to play.  It was a wonderful time.  I also continued to sing throughout all of this in Church and when I went to College I was in the Glee Club, Chorale, and Original 13 at different times.  I also sang in the Protestant Chapel Choir.  As a sophomore at West Point, I sang with the Glee Club for Bob Hope’s Salute to the USO on National TV and had dinner with Connie Stevens and her daughter Joely Fisher that night (excuse me while I pick up that name I just dropped).   That was so much fun.  I have played trumpet in weddings and played Taps at funerals as well as the Star Spangled Banner at baseball games.  I played in the Praise Band and the Orchestra for the Millennium Easter Sunrise Service at Williams Brice Stadium in 2000.  Even now, I play in our Church Praise Band and sing in our Church Choir.  So, to say music has played a big part in my life would be a tremendous understatement.  My oldest son plays guitar in the Youth Praise Band and sings.  All of our family sings including my wife and I’ve been sitting here watching my 5 year old playing the Wii and doing Just Dance 4.  It’s a great form of exercise for him.  I can’t imagine being without music.  Even video games have music.  Music and Life go together like peas and carrots.  I may never be an Underwear Model, but I can sing, play music and dance.  lol

Music and Life – It’s all around us

Can you imagine life without music?  Music and Life just go together.  When we go to Africa, they play the Djembe, an African drum.  They also play the Kora, a type of guitar.  Every country and every civilization has music.  Music is mentioned all through the Bible as a form of worship.  Music can soothe or it can agitate.  The funny thing is, after studying music, the same types of music have the same effect on people all over the world.  Minor and dissonant chords agitate and make a fearful sound.  Flute and soft music soothes and are played when doing yoga or getting a massage.  Brass music inspires as in a Military Marching Band and drums just make you want to get up and move.  It’s funny, when you start playing a rhythm and there is a little child in the room, whether they have been around people who dance or not, they start to wiggle and move and dance.  So, Music and Life go together.  It’s just something that always has been around and always will be.  As long as kids in schools have pencils, they will beat out a tune on a desk.  Enjoy it and start noticing the music around you, even the birds singing in the trees or a wind chime.  I even hear music riding down a dirt road and bumping along.  Enjoy life.  Enjoy Music and Life and make the most of the time you have here on this little blue ball!!

Is Insanity Hard?

Is Insanity Hard?

Is Insanity Hard?

Is Insanity Hard?

I’m going to give you the bad, followed by the good with Insanity, so, make sure you read all of this.  Bad news first, right?  Also, watch the video at the end of this.

Is Insanity Hard?  Let’s look at the name….

Um, yes.  Insanity is hard.  But, it was designed to be hard.  It is High Intensity Interval Training to the MAX.  The first 10 minutes of the warmup will smoke most people.  Here is the Insanity warmup.  First round is half speed and every movement is 30 seconds.  You start with jogging in place, then go to jumping jacks, then back and forth “heismans”, then, back and forth “double heismans”, then butt kicks, then high knees, then “mummy kicks” where your legs are straight and your arms scissor back and forth parallel to the ground with your joints being stiff.  Then, you repeat each movement for another 30 seconds and go 3/4 speed.  Then, you do each movement for another 30 seconds and go as hard as you can go. The first time I did it I was sucking wind after the first couple of minutes.  Most people can’t make it through the warmup for Insanity without pausing or taking a break.  But, here is the good news.  If you could do everything perfectly, there would be no need for Insanity because you would already be in shape, right?  So, don’t worry about that.

So, Is Insanity Hard?   The warmup is hard, but you’ll get through it!!  After the warmup, you do a bit of a stretch.  Then, depending on which program you are doing, you go through a roller coaster ride of high intensity, high impact cardio with some upper body moves thrown in.  Again, typically, you do 3 or 4 moves at half speed, a little 30 second rest, repeat those moves at 3/4 speed, a 30 second rest and then repeat those moves at full speed.  Then, the moves he has you do change and then toward the end of the workout, some upper body moves like pushups or mountain climbers or tricep pushups are thrown in for upper body resistance.  It’s a pretty good mix.  Some of the workouts are harder than others.  They are designed to be that way, and as you progress through the entire roughly 60 days and there is change, you will start to feel yourself getting less winded as you go.  The bad news is, as you get stronger and in better shape, you may actually find yourself pushing harder and possibly even getting more sore as you progress through the workouts.  My cankles were so sore I could not even touch them.  If you aren’t familiar with cankles, that is the part of the leg between the calf and the ankle.  I didn’t even know I had muscles in that part of my leg.  But, Insanity caused me to become VERY familiar with them.  After my first day with Insanity, I literally couldn’t stand on my tip toes for 3 days.  After a week, when I say I couldn’t touch my lower legs, I mean they were literally sore to the touch, not just when I walked around on them.  You are going to be sore and tired.  You can count on it, but the results happen fast…so, that is the good news.  Is Insanity Hard?  You bet it is.  That’s the bad news.

Is Insanity Hard? – The Good News!

Is Insanity Hard?  Yes it is!!  That is the Good News!!  What…you say…how is that good news?   Well, as I said earlier, if you get the Insanity program, and you can do everything on the DVDs perfectly, and keep up with Shaun T. and not break a sweat, frankly, you would have wasted your money because you don’t need the program.  BUT, if you are sweating bullets, and pausing the DVD and pushing yourself, and feeling a bit dizzy, nauseated and want to cry, then, this program is doing what it is supposed to do for you.  Change is hard.  Nobody likes change.  When you push your body, it will change and sometimes, your body will push back.  There is a lot of comfort in sitting on the couch and watching TV.  There is no challenge there.  But, when you get up and do something and challenge yourself, it is amazing what will happen.  You will not only change physically, but you will also be changing your mindset and that will change you emotionally and also spiritually.  You will know you are doing something other people are not willing to do.  Insanity will challenge you and that is good news also.  Then, the funny thing is, as you are walking around like you have a corn cobb up your butt because you’re so sore, people will ask you why you’re limping or what is wrong with you.  Then, you will break out in hysterical laughter and tell them you’re insane, because you’re doing insanity.  And, the great news is, you will LOVE the way you feel, sore…tired…and all.

Is Insanity Hard? – How to make it better!!

Tai Cheng Review

Tai Cheng Review

As soon as I saw Dr. Mark Cheng on stage at the Beachbody Coach Summit a couple of years ago, I knew Tai Cheng was for real.  After doing Tai Cheng I knew I would be doing a Tai Cheng Review.  I had to.  I have also told you I Love Martial Arts.  I had taken Taekwondo and had messed around with other forms until I found a great instructor and started taking Classical Jujitsu.  I loved all of that and I knew a little about Tai Chi but I didn’t know much.  I knew it was an art form that focused on slow movements but also could be explosive when actually used in a combative form.  So, I was intrigued to find out more about Tai Chi through the program Dr. Cheng created called Tai Cheng by Beachbody.  The focus of the program is balance, coordination, mobility, agility and vitality.   There are times of slow and controlled breathing followed by slow movements.  As Dr. Cheng says, you have to just let go and concentrate in the moment.  By learning to put the Tai Cheng movements together, you’ll experience increased balance and strength, improved joint function, a wider range of motion, less stiffness, greater flexibility, and an overall feeling of natural energy and well-being.  I have done Tai Chi with an instructor since doing Tai Cheng and it is for real.  Dr. Cheng shows the application of the movements so you can visualize an opponent.  I decided to do Tai Cheng while doing the Ultimate Reset and not being able to workout hard.  So, for my Tai Cheng Review, my suggestion is, do it.

Tai Cheng Review – Who is it for?

For my Tai Cheng Review, I have to tell you, Tai Cheng is for you!  As I said, I did Tai Cheng while doing the Ultimate Reset and not being able to workout hard.  But, Tai Cheng is PERFECT for everyone, including people who can’t do high impact cardio.  If a Doctor tells you that you should stay away from intense cardio and high impact for health reasons or if you have an injury or even if you are morbidly obese, but that you need to walk and work on balance, coordination, flexibility, mobility, etc., Tai Cheng is for you.  For athletes who have been working out hard and need a little break to work on other aspects of their fitness, this is a perfect program.  I can tell you, from me working out personally, that my balance, coordination, flexibility, agility and many other things improved.  Dr. Cheng works on the abductors, adductors, rotators, flexors, and entensors.  The muscles that move you as well as the muscles that stabilize you get focused on.  If you know someone who is getting older, and needs to work on balance, PLEASE get them this program.  Tai Cheng will help them with balance.  Balance and flexibility is something that goes away as we get older simply because we don’t work on it.  How many times have you heard of older people falling and breaking a hip and never recovering?  That kind of fall can be prevented with a program like Tai Cheng being practiced.  It’s worth the effort to do this and as a part of my Tai Cheng Review, if you know someone who is getting older, get the Tai Cheng Challenge Pack for them.  I promise you won’t be sorry!!  Contact me for more details.

Beachbody Coach Summit

Beachbody Coach Summit

Beachbody Coach Summit

Beachbody Coach Summit

What is Beachbody Coach Summit?  I actually asked myself that same question when it was announced before the very first one back in 2008.  It really is pretty simple.  It is a time for people of like mind to get together for the weekend.  I’m sure you know how that feels.  Anytime you get people together who are passionate about what they do and they have a chance to hang out and just have fun, there is an energy and a synergy that happens.  It is absolutely amazing.  This is one of the events we look forward to all year long.  Just to get around people who you look up to, who are helping people get in shape and lose weight and make a lot of money doing it is phenomenal.  To get to pick the brains of people you know and trust about what they are doing to help others and how they got there is priceless.  So, why Beachbody Coach Summit?  The founders of the company realized early on that it would be necessary to develop the community in a live forum.  We already had the online message boards, but there is something special that happens when people get together in person.  Truthfully, I’m not sure I would have gone to that first Summit if we had not been Top Coaches that year.  The trip for us as well as the trip to Maui, Hawaii that year was totally paid for so, it was a no-brainer.  We’ve had to pay for each one since and I can tell you, after that first Beachbody Coach Summit, I decided right then and there that I would never miss one, regardless of what it cost.

Beachbody Coach Summit – What to Expect

We will be getting there a bit early for the Summit because we use it as a time to get away with each other for a few days so we will get there a couple of days before the events kick off.  For the 2013 Beachbody Coach Summit, there will be coach certification classes for P90X and the Body Beast Prequalification and then the fashion show Wednesday night.  Of course, all of this is optional.  The real agenda kicks off this year on Thursday with Coach led meetings Thursday morning and early afternoon.  Thursday night is a General Session followed by a Success Club Party.  Friday will be a trainer led workout.  The trainer led workouts are fun and tough and you can typically pick which trainer you want to workout with and most all of them will be there.  There will then be another General Session followed by workshops and then later that night will be the Star Diamond Reception.  Saturday will be the Super Workout where 5,000+ Beachbody Coaches converge on the parking lot of the Tropicana Hotel and workout for an hour or so to different celebrity trainers as each of them take their turn with us.  After a quick shower and change there will be another General Session, more trainer workshops and then that night will be the Celebration where Beachbody will make some major awards and give away a LOT of money to people with great transformations as well as recognition of coaches who are moving forward with their businesses.  The Celebration will be followed by the Celebration party with dancing and just hanging out and having a good time.  We will depart for home on Sunday.

Beachbody Coach Summit – Should you go?

In a word, yes, you should go to the Beachbody Coach Summit.  It is going to be in Las Vegas again this year at the MGM Grand.  That place is just amazing.  We had so much fun last year just hanging out with everyone and learning more about what Beachbody is doing to help us reach people with the message of being not only physically fit but financially fit as well.  Each Summit has been full of announcements of new products Beachbody is releasing from Shakeology, to Insanity, to Turbo Fire, to Body Beast and the list goes on and on.  There are some incredible things that happen at Beachbody Coach Summit that I just can’t even begin to explain with words.  To see the founders of the Company and the Coaches that you’ve gotten to know on social media or the message boards is surreal.  Just being there to feel the energy and to know that you have the same goals as everyone else in the room, to help people and build a business doing it is absolutely incredible.  Beachbody pulls out all the stops for this event and it’s the blowout celebration of the year.  It’s a great time to reconnect with your spouse or, if you’re single, it’s a great time to come out and meet some other single people who have the same goals as you.  I can tell you this, there are, in my opinion, no finer group of business people out there and you will never attend another “business meeting” that has people who are more fit than the ones that will be there.  In my opinion, you don’t have any idea of what you’re involved in with this business until you’ve gone to a Beachbody Coach Summit.   Contact Me for more information and come to Vegas with us because on this trip…what happens in Vegas does NOT stay in Vegas!!!

Financially Fit

Financially Fit

Financially Fit

Financially Fit

Being Financially Fit is a topic that I had planned on writing about, but how do I do that?  Then, after sitting down this past Saturday and pulling together my tax information and looking at the statement I got from Beachbody for my income this past year, I realized, I probably can write about this topic.  I know it may be weird coming from me.  I write a lot about being Physically Fit and I was going to entitle this blog “Fiscally Fit” to have the pun in there, but decided on this title instead.

The truth is, most people spend so much time going back and forth from home to work to home to work that they don’t really pay much attention to their finances.  As a result, most people end up with more month than money and they play the bill juggling game of “who can we put off this month” and making minimum payments.  Everything is bought on time.  Very few things are paid for anymore with cash.  It’s not just vehicles and houses anymore.  It’s furniture, appliances, vacations, just about everything you can imagine.  It is all paid for a little at a time, month by month.  If you are never late and make the minimum payments, you will have a good credit score, but it sure makes for a tough time when bill time rolls around.  So, how do you get to be Financially Fit?  The answer is easy, really.  Make more money and decrease your monthly bills.  But how do you do that?  Well, the answer lies within you.  How badly do you want to be out of debt and be Financially Fit or are you happy not doing anything different because change is hard and you are comfortable with being miserable with your finances every month?  If you are ready to start to look for answers on being Financially Fit, I suggest starting with anything Dave Ramsey says.  The truth is, if all you are relying on is a college education to be financially independent and/or wealthy, you’re going to have to be smart to balance your budget and handle your finances because you’re going to have to be good at juggling.  A college education these days is a good place to start but it is still no match for being SMART.

Financially Fit – It’s not easy

If it were easy, everybody would be doing it, right?  How many people walk around every day wishing things were different and hoping things change?  They want to be Financially Fit, but they never really do anything to change their circumstances.  The bottom line is they don’t have an equity stake in what they are doing.  By not having equity in the company or business they are involved in, they never really give it 100%.  Most people are content to just let life happen to them.  The saying goes, even a dead fish can float down a river.  Tragically, that’s what most people do.  They have the herd mentality.  They just float down the river.  They don’t try to swim upstream and do something different.  There is another saying also.  If you serve the classes, you live with the masses.  If you serve the masses, you live with the classes.  Is what you are doing day in and day out serving a lot of people or are you just serving your master (boss)?  If you don’t have equity in your position, you are just making the dreams of someone else come true.  Your boss doesn’t care about your dreams.  Your boss is concerned about making a profit so they can stay in business and making their dreams come true.  If a company isn’t making money, either for the investors or the owners, they can put their money into a bank and draw interest.  No company is going to stay in business long if they don’t make a profit.  That also means they aren’t going to keep you around long if you aren’t contributing to the company and you aren’t contributing more than they are paying you.  It’s a simple fact of life.  You will also get paid more if you are contributing more.  I heard someone say once, a brain surgeon who is doing the job of an elevator operator will be paid what an elevator operator makes.  An employer can’t afford to pay a brain surgeon what a brain surgeon makes if he is doing a “less important job”.  So, if you want to make more money, you have to be more valuable to the masses than to the classes.  That will help you be more “Financially Fit”.  If you want to know if you are broke, here are two questions to ask yourself.  1)  Am I trading hours for dollars or building a residual income to make money while I sleep or go on vacation and 2)  Do I turn in my taxes before April 15th?  If the answer to either, or both, of these questions is yes…you’re broke.

Becoming Financially Fit

Becoming Financially Fit wasn’t something I thought about much in my 20s and 30s.  I knew if I wanted to get ahead I had to have a good job and “work hard”.  I had done a few entrepreneurial things but nothing ever really panned out so, I was relegated  to just following the masses, working for the classes and earning my good paycheck.  Nothing really changed until I found Beachbody.  I had a goal of the income I wanted to make by the time I was 50 years old.   I may could have done that with my Engineering job, if everything had gone “according to plan”.  But, 3 jobs later after a downturn in the economy and I realized I was in the middle of a paradigm shift.  Things aren’t being done today like they were for generations before us.  Social Security will likely be gone by the time I draw it.  Pensions are a thing of the past.  Benefits are being cut.  Inflation is killing us.  Something had to change.  Being a full time Beachbody Coach was the best financial decision I ever made, and I had made quite a few of them.  Not only did I get Physically Fit and loving staying there, but, I’m getting more and more Financially Fit every year also.  I love being able to help others and getting paid for it.  Owning my own business and serving the masses but having access to household brand name products like P90X, Insanity and Shakeology are just, well, nothing short of AWESOME!!  Contact me and let’s talk about it and see if it’s right for you.

I Love Beachbody People

I Love Beachbody People

I Love Beachbody People

I Love Beachbody People

I’ll try to sum up why I Love Beachbody People.  A Company is only as good as the people who are in it.  In America, we are being conditioned by the media and others in power, mainly on the left, that Companies are faceless entities who make money and beat people up doing it.  Therefore, we have to “stick it” to the man.  If it weren’t for those evil corporations taking all the money, I’d be better off, right?  That is what they would have you believe.  But, the truth is, Companies, for the most part, are in business because the founder believed in what they are doing and they are also in business to make a profit.  In the course of making that profit, they employ people who get paid to work there.  Granted, some companies are better than others at taking care of their employees and employees can leave a company any time they wish to go work someplace else if they feel they are being mistreated.  That is the beauty of the free enterprise system.  Consumers also vote with their dollars and if they can find the same or similar item or service at a lower price with better customer service, then that is where they are going to spend their dollars.  So, even if a company is at the top of their game, they have to strive to stay there or they will see their market share dwindle as people use their dollars to vote for other companies to keep them in business.  Why do I tell you all that?  It’s because Beachbody is a company.  But, it is made up of people.  And, I LOVE Beachbody people.  You have heard about how I found P90X.  I truly believe it was God putting it in my lap at the right time.  I wasn’t really looking for anything but I knew I didn’t want to go to a gym and I didn’t know what to do at home and when I saw the P90X infomercial, it hit me.  This was REAL.  The more I got to know the people, the more I fell in love with it.

I Love Beachbody People – The Founders

The founders of the company, Carl Daikeler and Jon Congdon, started Beachbody in the late 1990s because they didn’t want to go to a gym and there wasn’t a company that had a community of people working out with great programs.  So, they contacted some celebrity trainers and came up with a plan to develop fitness programs with nutrition guides and develop a community online.  They developed the message boards with the introduction of the internet to the masses and that is really what fired up the community.  The Beachbody customers could now communicate with each other on the message boards and they knew they could have the support of others who were working out with the same or similar programs without the judgmental attitudes people encounter when they go to the gym.  It really was a win-win for everyone.  As the programs became more and more successful, more people joined in until the founders and the corporate staff realized it was reaching a tipping point.  That is when they decided to go a different route that they thought, at the time, was the best course of action, although they initially thought it was an icky proposition.  They decided to enter into the MLM arena.  What better way to support others than through a network of coaches who have a stake financially in making sure their customers and other coaches stayed involved.  Many of the customers were already coaching people for free and recommending the programs, so why not compensate them for doing it?  That is when Million Dollar Body, which ultimately became Team Beachbody, was formed.

I Love Beachbody People – Corporate Staff, Coaches and Customers

In order to make this company run properly, it has to have support.  When many people think “Beachbody” now, they think P90X or Insanity.  Beachbody isn’t a household name, yet.  I am convinced it will be.  But, there are a lot of people who make it happen.  It is the celebrity trainers, the corporate staff answering the phones, the founders, the regional reps, the coaches and the customers.  I am a Coach, but I was a Customer first.  That is why I feel good about helping people.  I have no idea where I would be right now if it weren’t for P90X being introduced into my life by an infomercial and then, me stepping out on faith to get the program, get up at 5:30 AM every morning and losing 40 lbs.  I didn’t really change my eating habits much.  I just started working out.  HARD.  Then, I wanted to help others.  I think that is the reason I Love Beachbody People so much.  There are a few bad apples in the barrel, but what barrel doesn’t have bad apples?  BUT, the vast majority of Beachbody Coaches, especially the ones who go Diamond, were customers first and they really, truly want to help others.  I wanted to be a Coach before I found out you could make money and now, this is what I do for a living.  Yes, it really is that good.  I wish I could describe it better but I can’t.  You just have to do what I did, take it on faith, get a challenge pack, and get in the best shape of your life and help others do the same.  I’m here to help you also as a free resource as your coach, so, USE ME!!   Contact Me today and let’s get you started.  Come check us out on a Super Saturday or get in on one of our conference calls.  It’s an incredible ride and one you will never regret!!

Yes, I’m doing a Turbo Jam Review.  Don’t act so shocked!!  When you think about getting in shape, most people think about going running or hitting the treadmill or an elliptical in the gym.  I had someone ask me the other day if they should get an elliptical or a treadmill.  My answer was simple.  Get the treadmill.  A treadmill can hold a lot more towels when you use it for a week and then start using it as a towel rack.  Of course, I was being a bit sarcastic (insert shocked face here), but it’s true for most people.  I know because my wife talked me into getting a treadmill several years ago.  She used it for about a week.  I used it a lot more than she did but it was just boring to me.  I would run for awhile and then that was it.  I much preferred running on the open road where there is scenery and changing conditions, but I do know that a lot of people LOVE running on a treadmill or an elliptical.  They are a strange breed for sure.  But, there are options out there if you think you fall into that category of people who will get a piece of equipment like that and then not use it.  The answer is simple.  Get a Beachbody program and workout at home and pick something that is fun.  Beachbody has a lot of great workouts and it may take looking at a few but there is one out there that we call your “soul mate” workout.  When I think of a fun workout, even though I’m a “manly man”, the first one that comes to mind is Turbo Jam.  So, of course my Turbo Jam Review will include some fun, right?

Check out this video made by Beachbody.  This is better than any Turbo Jam Review I could do.

Turbo Jam Review – My Impressions

My Turbo Jam Review wouldn’t be complete without my experience.  When I did my first Turbo Jam workouts, it was almost on a dare from my wife.  I wanted to find out what it was about because she was doing it and loving it.  She told me I’d love it too.  So, I told her I wanted to do some Cardio.  She handed me “Cardio Party”.  I did OK with it, but truthfully,  I didn’t break a sweat.  By the time I figured out what the moves were, she had moved onto something else.  I told my wife and she laughed and told me to do “Learn and Burn”.  I watched it and had my A-HA moments on the moves.  After that, I went back in and put in Cardio Party again the next day and…WOW!!  I not only broke a sweat, I broke out into a flop sweat!!  And, yes, I do have to admit.  It was fun!!  I have to admit, still though, that Turbo Jam isn’t my soul mate workout, but it is fun.  The music is off the hook.  The workouts are low impact also and she throws in some Capoeira moves that are fun to do.  Have I mentioned this workout is fun?

Chalene Johnson makes sure everything is fun and lighthearted, and I love it when she calls me “Baby Doll” because of course she was thinking of me when she said it to the camera!  The mood of the workout is serious though.  Oh, and have I mentioned it’s fun?  I would love to think I look good dancing, but this is a workout I make sure I do when no one is around and watching.  I still occasionally pop a DVD in and do it, but I have to be in the mood for a Turbo Jam workout.  I love it when the sirens go off and it’s Turbo Time.  I really think this set of workouts would be invaluable in your collection.

Right now, also, you can get a Turbo Jam Challenge Pack that comes with Shakeology, weighted gloves and everything you see below.  Also, as always, you have a 30 day money back guarantee on everything that Beachbody has.  Contact me and let’s get you moving to get you in great shape for summer.  You won’t regret getting this workout.  So, for this Turbo Jam Review, my opinion is, of course, get it!

Beachbody Super Saturday

Beachbody Super Saturday – Why they were Started

Beachbody Super Saturday

Beachbody Super Saturday

The reason for the creation of  Beachbody Super Saturday was simply because Beachbody is growing.  There is no doubt about that!  There were 40 founding coaches and now, we’re up to over 100,000 coaches strong and growing.  That is in the last 5 to 6 years.  Some companies have grown faster, and some slower, but for where we  are and where we want to be, this is pretty good growth for sure.  It has happened mostly with customers also.  In fact, when we were in California this past September at Leadership, we were given a statistic that was basically about 75% of Diamond Coaches were customers first.  I am one of those.  I ordered P90X and after getting some results, I knew I wanted to be a Beachbody Coach also.  I wanted to help people the way my Coach had helped me.  That is the way it is for a lot of people.  They order a program, get some results, get support from their Coach and then they want to help others also.  Beachbody also compensates us for being their marketing arm and pays us for helping them reach others.  I wanted to be a Coach before I found out you could make money.  When I found out you could, and how it all worked, I knew I was going to be a Coach for life.  I had no other choice.  I had to help others.

Beachbody had some great infrastructure in place already with the message boards, the online offices, and Coaches could finally e-mail customers directly, something we had wanted to do since the very beginning of the Coaching opportunity.  One thing Beachbody had always had was an incredible community.  The Community is one of the things that drew me to Beachbody so strongly.  I knew without a support system, most people fail.  In fact, most people who get a gym membership don’t even use it.  Check out the statistics on gym memberships.  That was another reason for me wanting to be a Coach.  I knew there were people out there like me, who wanted to get in shape, but wouldn’t want to go to a gym and had no idea what to do otherwise because joining a gym is “the thing to do.”

Beachbody Super Saturday – What to Expect

Because there are Beachbody Super Saturday events all over the Country, they are all a bit different.  Some are big with hundreds of people held in a hotel and some are small and held in people’s homes.  Some have a workout and some don’t.  Some have celebrity trainers and others just have their own workouts.  Some of them have Corporate Executives from Beachbody and some are just Coaches hosting the meetings.

What they all have in common is great information and hanging out with wonderful people.  ALL of the Beachbody Super Saturday events will have recognition of new Coach ranks.  information from Beachbody with new announcements, and a video from Beachbody Corporate.  At this past Super Saturday in January, 2013, the Beachbody Cruise was announced, where every Coach who registered can go.  Not only that, we have the ability to earn dollars toward the cruise by helping others get in shape by using the Beachbody programs.  There will be information released at Super Saturday that you will get to hear first by being there.

Prospects are also encouraged to come to Beachbody Super Saturday events because there they will get to see other Coaches and learn more about Beachbody and how they can make money helping others also.  Remember when I told you I wanted to be a Coach because of the community?  The Community I fell in love with was all online.  They were facebook friends and people I met on the message boards.  It was 2 or 3 years after the Coaching Opportunity was launched when Beachbody Super Saturday events were started.  Beachbody saw the need to have them because if an online community was good, how much better would a real life community be?  It was also a great way to connect coaches to each other.

Beachbody Super Saturday – You Should Go!

There are Beachbody Super Saturday events all over the Country.  We are hosting one in Columbia (Hopkins), South Carolina in a few weeks as of the writing of this on April 13, 2013.  It is easy to go and easy to find a location near you.  Just Contact Me and I will send you the entire list of locations or just the ones for your state.  There is typically a description of the event also in the information.  I would love for you to come hang out with us if you are anywhere near us.  If not, I can certainly hook you up with some great coaches for whatever part of the Country you’re in.  The information shared will be invaluable, not only for you and your workouts, but for deciding if you want to join us and be a Beachbody Coach.  I tell people all the time, there are only two reasons I can think of for not being a Coach.  Those are, you don’t want to help people and you don’t want to make money.  If either of those fit something you think you’d like to do, you have to come check us out.  Let me know if you need anything!!

P90X Review

P90X Review

P90X Challenge Pack

P90X Challenge Pack

A lot of people are afraid of P90X.  I guess I was just so tired of being overweight and not happy with myself that I was ready to try about anything.  You’ve read what i said about how I found P90X.  I’ve also told you what you can expect with P90X.  But I haven’t really done a P90X review yet.   So, here it is.

P90X was developed by Tony Horton for Beachbody.  It was a followup to the P90 program that he had developed earlier.  In the old days before P90X, people did P90 multiple times and they kept asking “What’s Next?”  So, Tony developed the program with Muscle Confusion in mind.  The theory, which has been proven, is that muscles adapt when you work them the same way all of the time.  Changing routines is what causes muscle growth and not allowing them to adapt is what gives them stamina and builds them.  It really is common sense when you think about it.  What most people do though, is go to the gym and they have their favorite thing either because it’s easy for them to do, they know how to do it, or they just don’t want to try something different.  P90X forces you out of that comfort zone in a major way.  There are also two different versions, lean and classic.  I always recommend classic for a lot of reasons, the main one being, resistance burns fat in many people better than cardio.  Most people think to burn fat, you have to do cardio and that simply isn’t true.  Muscle burns fat just sitting there so, doing resistance will add muscle, increase metabolism and give you a sleek and slender look you are looking for.

You need to know, as part of my P90X review, that P90X is hard. It’s supposed to be.  To get the best use of the program, I recommend a set of quick change dumbbells.  A pullup bar is also needed for the pullups that you’ll do.  Don’t worry if you can’t do a pullup.  You can put your feet in a chair and modify them.  I also recommend getting your chin over the bar and then take your feet out of the chair and slowly lower yourself.  Pushups can be done from your knees if you have to.  In the beginning, that’s what I did, but I made progress fast.  Tony shows how to modify all of the moves.  You can also do the program with resistance bands if you don’t have the dumbbells.  To get the absolute best out of the program, I highly encourage you to get them though.  My P90X Review wouldn’t be complete without recommending the P90X Recovery Drink for after the workout and P90X Protein Bars.

P90X Review – How is the Program Set Up?

As a part of a P90X Review, you will want to know how the program is set up.  The program is basically broken into resistance, cardio, resistance, yoga/flexibility, resistance, cardio, flexibility.  You do all of that for 3 weeks.  Then, you have a recovery week where you do Yoga, Core Synergistics, and flexibility.  Another 3 weeks like the first phase followed by another recovery week and then 4 weeks like the first 3 weeks followed by the last recovery week.  It is set up to keep your body guessing so it doesn’t have a chance to plateau.  P90X is definitely a program where you will get out of it what you put into it.  I’m going to give you a video at the end of this that is my story of starting P90X.  Yes, it hurts.  Yes, it’s hard.  But yes, you can do it.  I highly recommend getting this program.  It’s the hottest selling workout program out there and for good reason.  Celebrities, Athletes and Politicians are doing it.  Firefighters, Policemen and Stay at Home Moms are also doing it.  It can be modified and you will have the time of your life and when you complete the program, you’ll be able to brag to your friends while wearing a new Tshirt you’ll get for free by submitting your results.  Kill your fear, get the P90X Challenge Pack and let’s get you in the best shape of your life!!  I can’t wait to hear you giving me YOUR P90X Review.

P90X Review – What You Get

My P90X Review wouldn’t be complete without informing you of Challenge Packs.  We didn’t have Challenge Packs when we first got started.  It sure would have made figuring the nutrition part of the program out.  The Challenge Pack comes with the entire P90X program along with your choice of Shakeology.  You will also receive Shakeology every month and get free shipping.  It’s an incredible deal.

Beachbody Coaching is Special!

Beachbody Coaching is Special!

Beachbody Coaching is Special

Beachbody Coaching is Special

Most of you know I’m a Beachbody Coach.  You also know I’m unashamed about it and if you get around me for any length of time, you will hear me talking about it.  Beachbody Coaching is Special to me and my entire family.  I don’t know how I can even describe it but I will do my best to.  I told you how I found P90X.  I am ever so glad I did.  I was very overweight (fat) and didn’t know what to do.  I had done other workout at home programs in the past and they were either boring, or got some results and then I hit a plateau pretty quickly.  So, with P90X, the plateau gets broken with muscle confusion.  I mentioned I had a Coach and she stuck with me and I would e-mail or text her whining about how sore I was.   She kept encouraging me and I kept going because I knew she was there pulling for me and wanted me to have results.  During my first 90 days, I started feeling better than I had in years.  Make no mistake, I was sore for awhile.  VERY sore, but my energy level increased and I started to eat right for the first time in years also.  I knew I was off of the yo-yo diets and I knew this was a lifetime endeavor for me.  I knew I would continue on and I could never go back to the shape I was in when I found P90X.  It just wasn’t possible.  I had achieved a new “set point” in my life.  A set point is a place where your body and mind expect you to be.  I now no longer saw myself as someone who was out of shape and fat and had no way out.  All of a sudden, I was becoming known as that guy who was into exercising and then, I heard someone refer to me as “that fit guy”.  I remember someone at the pool that summer saying “wow, you’ve lost some weight and putting on muscle.  What are you doing?”  That is when things really began to change for me.

Beachbody Coaching is Special – Without Money

I wanted to be a Beachbody Coach before I found out you could make money.  In fact, making money with these programs wasn’t even on my radar.  What I did know though, was, I had gotten some results with P90X.  I felt better than I had since I graduated from a Military College and I was in my early 40s feeling like this.  How many 40+ year olds feel better than they felt in their early 20s?  I started having people ask me what I was doing.  I knew how much my coach had helped me get results and I knew support was a vital part of the equation.  That is why people go to gyms and get a personal trainer.  We all need encouragement and it is even more important when we are stuck with a mindset that we can’t do it.  As a Beachbody Coach, I knew I could help people.  I knew what it was like to be overweight with no one believing in me and settling for “average”.  So, I told my coach that I wanted to be a coach like her.  I told her that I knew Beachbody Coaching is Special and I wanted to be a part of what the company is doing to end the trend of obesity in the United States and around the World.  She told me there was a small fee (basically it pays for a coach kit and to keep the four websites you get up and running and it wasn’t much) and I remember asking her, why should I pay to coach people when I’m already coaching people for free?  She said “You know you can make money doing this right?”  WHAT!!!????

Beachbody Coaching is Special – WITH the Money

If you are still reading this and you’re trying to decide if you want to be a Beachbody Coach, my advice is, of course, to do it.  If you’ve heard my story, you know I wanted to make $150 a month to help pay for my supplements and to offset my two son’s travel baseball expenses (I was coaching their baseball teams also) as well as getting my 25% discount on my purchases.  I didn’t even know what the potential of making money was but at the time I signed up, I had no intention of making this a career.  I was unemployed at the time and looking for a job when I signed up as a Coach.  I was very concerned that it was multi-level marketing.  I had been there and done that in the early 90s and swore I’d have my toenails pulled out before I did that again.  But, remember me talking about the support system?  What BETTER support system can you want than people who can help you be successful who have a stake in whether you are successful or not?  A mentor of mine told me once, don’t take financial advice from broke people.  I decided to listen to people who were where I wanted to be.  Well, my 4th week as a Beachbody Coach, I made over $100.  That was the time that I realized it was for real.

The exiting part –

The thing that excited me most though, was I was helping people.  Beachbody was compensating me for being their marketing arm and helping them with customers, AND, they were giving me customers from the infomercials because I had shared the Beachbody opportunity with others.  What better opportunity can you want?  As a Beachbody Coach, you get to help people physically, financially, emotionally, spiritually, etc.  It touches every aspect of people’s lives.  I’ve met people I never would have met and I’ve become friends with people I can totally see myself being friends with forever.  Beachbody also has incentives such as trips, bonuses, and prizes they award coaches when they’ve helped others also.  Everything is all natural, the workouts are real, and they get results.  They also offer a 30 day money back guarantee on everything, including being a coach.  There is no long term contract.  It’s a month by month deal so you can quit anytime.  My advice is check it out.  Contact me.  I’d love to tell you more about it and give you more information so you can make a decision whether you want to join us on this mission to End the Trend of Obesity!!
