You Can Do It

Yes, You can do it!  What what is it?  That is up to you to decide.  There are so many people that go through life and they have something that is built up over time that tells them that they can’t do it.  Why is that?  Why do we let people tell us we can’t do something?  Is it fear of failure or fear of success?  Now, let’s be honest again.  When I say, You Can Do It, I’m talking about something that is doable.  I said in another blog that you can’t stand flat footed and jump over your house.  Then I put a caveat on it and said without assistance.  If you know something is doable, why can’t you do it?  I read something the other day that said, if you want to be successful, find something someone else has done that you want to do and outwork them.  It really is that simple.  What is it that you have always wanted to do but have been afraid to try?  Life is short!  Get after it and do it.  Is it jumping from an airplane?  Go do it!  Surfing?  What are you waiting on?  Maybe you have wanted to go on a Christmas shopping trip in Europe.  Schedule it!  Maybe it is going on a short or long term mission trip.  Time is a’wastin’.  Get after it and get it done.  You can do it!!  Maybe you don’t have the means to get it done today but that doesn’t mean you stop trying.  Maybe you need to work on your personal development.  Maybe you need to gather some funds.  Maybe you just need to get your mind right.  Whatever it is, you can do it!  But, you have to be willing to sacrifice what you are doing today to do it.   If you continue doing what you are doing today, expect things not to change.  If you want things to change, you have to change first, then your circumstances will.  If you wait for your circumstances to change before you do, you will be in for a long wait.  Set a goal and go for it.  Les Brown said, if you shoot for the moon and miss, at least you will land among the stars.

The You Can Do It Accomplishments

There have been a host of human achievements just in the last few years.  There were great men and women that looked at each other and encouraged others and themselves and said YOU CAN DO IT!!  Here are just a few of them from the 20th Century.

20. High-Performance Materials – From the building blocks of iron and steel to the latest advances in polymers, ceramics, and composites, the 20th century has seen a revolution in materials.

None of these things happened by accident.  They all happened because of someone with a dream that they could do it.  They had an idea.  The Wright Brothers built on others and thought, yes, we can do it!!  It is the You Can Do It attitude that got them to keep trying and eventually fly and think how that has changed the entire world.  Man has even walked on the moon and did it just a few years after we took to the air.  The first flight wasn’t that impressive either.  The plane, if you can call it that, barely got off the ground and was down in just a few seconds, but it was the beginning of a new frontier.  Man would have eventually figured it out but it was the You Can Do It attitude that got the Wright Brothers there first.

How does the You Can Do It Attitude translate to your life?

I don’t know.  What is it that you need to tell yourself You Can Do It to be able to do?  For some, it is simply quality of life as a start.  It is losing weight and getting in shape.  It is a journey, not a destination.  It is something that you need to decide is worth you doing!  Is it really worth you losing weight and getting in shape?  You betcha.  So, you may need to tell yourself over and over every day, while staring in the mirror  “YOU CAN DO IT”!  It’s is uncomfortable, but it isn’t hard.  You’ve heard people say, “Exercise more and eat less”.  Well, that isn’t always the case.  It’s more of a matter of Exercise PERIOD….and eating BETTER!  There are some great foods out there that are great for you, but they typically aren’t found at places with big signs out front and neon lights with characters standing outside to entice the kids to come in.  It’s natural stuff.  Typically, if you are eating foods with one ingredient (think about that), you are eating what is good for your body.  If it has a label, and has more than one ingredient, not so good for you.
